Acting Coach and Mentor

Professional acting work is demanding and competitive. Working with an acting coach like Andy can give you the edge. You’ll receive feedback on your skills, benefit from an experienced actor’s understanding of the industry and discover new and interesting ways to enhance your performance.

While living and working in Los Angeles, Andy was coached and supported by Patrick Pankhurst. Not only did Patrick’s acting classes offer a great acting workout, but the one-to-one private acting coaching was invaluable for audition preparation – and success!

Andy’s experiences of working with such an inspiring and supportive coach continue to influence the way he now works with his own private acting clients.

Audition Coaching and Preparation

Successful auditions are the aim of every actor. Throughout your acting career, your ability to deliver confident, engaging and relevant auditions will determine the quantity and quality of the acting work you get.

Andy provides Audition Coaching for actors who want the ability and confidence to smash their audition, whether it be for TV, Film, Theatre of Commercial. Andy can help you with self-tapes (and read for you) too!

As actors, we have to trust our instincts on how to play a part, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t plan and rehearse for auditions. In fact, going into the audition with a couple of versions of your character readily prepared can make you look skilled and flexible to the casting director.

Andy can work with you as your acting coach on an ongoing basis, but he is also able to offer audition coaching and preparation for specific roles. Big auditions can be scary, and you need to suppress the nerves and let the real you come through. You need to own the room, and show that you can bring something special to the part you’re being see for.

Andy has auditioned with top casting directors for TV and Film in the UK and Hollywood, and booked 4 Hollywood movies, and TV shows worldwide, including “Holby City”, “People Just Do Nothing”, and “Birds of a Feather” in the UK.

Whether you would like coaching on monologues, feedback on your audition approach or help with nailing the big acting opportunity that is coming your way – Andy’s experience can give you the edge in that next audition. Andy can help you prepare for auditions – preferably in person, but also over Skype if we’ve met or worked together before.

Andy is Based in Bath, and also covers Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

Alisha says:
“My memories of working with Andy during acting classes are fond ones. Andy was extremely patient, and helped describe acting methods in ways other tutors could not in order for me to really apply myself to characters and roles with ease. I remember a rainy day class as we all sat around listening with eager ears and eyes; that day Andy told us “We all have a big break, whether that’s tomorrow or the future, but we all have one… And if it hasn’t happened yet, don’t get upset, because it just hasn’t been your time yet but it will be.

After 9 years I still remember those words. From my memory they may not be in the original order or the exact phrase used, but the message was clear and it has stuck with me throughout my life.
I learnt a lot from Andy’s classes, and I like to think they brought me out of my shell and not only taught me a lot about acting, but also myself.
I now travel the world performing as a figure skater, and write reviews on local cuisines and food I happen to come across in new cities and countries.

Every day I use my acting skills and apply them to my job as a performer, and every day I love what I do whether that’s performing or writing.

Thank you Andy for always teaching fantastic classes, and I look forward to working with you again in the future.”

James says:
“Andy was without a doubt the reason that I have the attitude to the performance that I have today.

At Redroofs, Andy was writer on the script for my final year film and he and the director Rupert trusted me enough to take on the lead and for that, I will forever be grateful. That short film was a roller coaster of independent film production that ultimately gave me the outlook and work ethic that has defined my working career.

Andy is an acting teacher that has the benefit of not being someone who picked it all up in the back of a book, but of a working actor who has been there, got the t-shirt, washed it and put it back on again for the next day. Being an actor is an incredibly rewarding experience and one of the toughest things you will ever do – which was one of the first pieces of advice he ever gave me!

The skills that Andy teaches and that he has passed on to me have stayed with me since the very first class. Acting is a self-less art form and Andy teaches you to not just focus on yourself but to focus on every single person who is part of the production and how you affect them with every decision you make, both as your character and professionally.

Andy’s teaching method is honestly the purest form of teaching because it comes from knowing how to perform on-camera, in rehearsal, on stage, into a mic and right down the barrel of the lens and you’ll have the best time learning and practicing your craft. “
